RCA-Thompson Lyra PDP 2812

The RCA Lyra PDP 2812 should be appearing soon, at least, in some European markets. We found it listed at one French webshop, FNAC.com for 299 Euro ($ 395 USD). Expensive, but that's how things go in Europe. This player features a 5gb hard drive, MP3, WMA, & JPEG support, and a 1.5-inch color display (128x128 pixel, 65k colors). Size is 89 x 50 x 14mm, at 84g. Not much else is known about it yet. The 2812 also appears on Amazon.de (Germany) for 249 Euro.

It's true I bought my PDP2860 for €500 (that's $660) while In the USA you can get it for $300. So I think the pricing is right. But it's pretty anoying that things like these are always way more expensive in Europe

I'm interested on how tthe 'scroll wheel' on this thing works...The design looks kind of slick but the screen looks cluttered.

Unfortunately I need to carry a convergence device at work, as I might be listening to music and miss a call since I can't hear my phone ring/feel it vibrate. That's why it's such a big issue w/me - a call to an emergency might mean life or death. If I'm using a stand alone device it could prove disastrous.

It's the hardware that I like, the premium feel and decent all-round spec.

Sure, it's not perfect - I'd prefer a dedicated camera button and an HDMI-out but nothing out there ticks all the boxes.

As for multimedia, it's not really something I ever use my phone for so I can't comment on that.

It's the only phone that does multimedia right, and for a LOOOOONNNNGGGG playback time. Plus that display,.....

This new Samsung Orion CPU sounds interesting. Suppose to be like the dual core version of the Hummingbird cpu.

Yeah I saw that, hopefully Tegra2 is good with battery life. Did the devices with og Tegra cpu get good battery life?
