Super Shuffle
comment: 29 | Thursday, March 10 (2005) 03:52PM | Posted by Lone
Introducing the Super Shuffle (AKA MX-575D) from Luxpro. It's a screenless flash player that comes in 512 MB and 1 GB capacities and acts as a flash drive when plugged in your computer. It also supports Mp3, WMA, WMA-DRM, and WAV files, and includes an FM tuner and built-in voice recorder. What's that? It looks like the iPod shuffle you say? Interesting. Word is it'll be on show at CeBit, with some sort of unique 'silhouette' advertising Heads up Austin, Rob.

Thanks tonynguyen

It kind of ticks me off when people refer to a player as an 'iPod clone' simply because it plays Mp3 plays. This time they really have a point.

You gotta laugh at the cheek of it.

Well, amusing if nothing else, how the hell the FM tuner is going to work without a screen is a mystery to me, shuffle radio I guess, if you want to tune into a specific station though its going to be serious hassle trying to find it!

there's already tonnes of cheap portable radios avaliable that do not have screens.

they have a feature called autoscan, the user simply presses a button and the next strongest signal is tuned.

whilst setting presets would be difficult, the radio is not the main feature therefore it's not going to have all the bells and whistles.

We should create a 12 step program called "iPod's Anonymous" where we helped troubled teens and adults escape the clutches of Apple's nasty devices.

Hmm, what a surprise, the Luxpro link mentioned in the above article is behaving very strangely, I either get a "Site down for maintenance" or the page loads minus the pictures.

I wonder what/who-ever could've caused that?

oh by the way the new sony flash players are also the same price as the shuffle.... i bet apple will stop shuffling or come out with a better model... but either one would be a defensive step and very unlike apple, would like to see what they do
see what they did to the mini hd player segment... instead of releasing a 5gb player like the rest of the gang, they did something which made the rest of 'em scrambling for changes...

oh and here are the sony flash players - should be better than iPShuff.

This is great fun, but it would have been even funnier if they had hidden a screen somewhere on there. Maybe behind a slider or something. It would really have put egg on the face of some Apple fanatics. Probably would have boosted sales considerably too....

Put egg on apple fanatics ? No you can't coz they scramble really fast on their 'needs' and 'requirements'

From a brief visit to TheLounge I learnt that most of them would have considered this if it had
1. Intelligent playlisting
2. iTunes integration
3. AAC playback

Wonder how apple really understands perfectly the needs of a few million people and makes their perfect dap. Even a clone is not good enough

If only SteveJobs would explain the advantages of a FMradio and voice recorder to these guys at the same price.... :ahem:

True Sownd, they always have the iTunes Clause to get them out of a jam. Of course, having full iTunes support means being incompatible with every other music store on the internet, but The Great Always Stand Alone, dontcha know?

But iTunes IS fantastic. And iPod owners CAN use other music stores, All Of MP3 for one.

so whats intelligent playlisting in iTunes?
The autofill? or selection of tracks based on 'recently listened' 'frequently listened' or 'highly rated or something?

I love this thing. I wanna buy one just so I can say "Does your icrap have an fm radio"? And then record their response with the built in voice recorder and play it back to them.
