Rio Karma, RIP good buddy. Next?

It looks like the Karma has officially been laid to rest, judging from a recent update to the RioAudio.com website. Karma has been removed from the drop down box in the main menu for hard drive based players. It's still listed on thier HD player page but is no longer offered for sale through the company. Meaning... EOL (end of line). Likely it's been out of production for some time and this is just the final nail in the coffin. Of course there's still a bajillion or so Karmas left in old wharehouses around the web... even Amazon.com has a bunch left in stock. Why do we even care? She's an oldie, yes, but a goodie. In case we havn't driven home the point by now: Karma remains the top player of choice (audio-only) for the DAPreview crew.

So, more to the point, does this mean a new, high-capacity player willl soon replace it? YES! Well... eventually. We've heard rumors about an August or September release, so there's plenty of time left to speculate. All the developers will let on is that it's the most amazing thing the world has ever seen. !not

It's a good sign for the Chroma being released soon, but who knows what 'soon' means in 'Riotime'. I would think they would want something available in that space all the time, but with Rio....oh nevermind..

Rio needs to get it together and show us something real. Karma fans have been hanging on to the Chroma dream for SO long, they're just going to twiddle their thumbs and make 300 itirations of the Carbon.

SHOW US THE CHROMA!
