South-Korean Muro is probably best-known for their FM-transmitting unit (MR-100) - one of the first players ever to offer that feature. Time has progressed since then, so they had to come up with something new. And, well - they did. Their latest unit is dubbed "The color" for now and its main spearheads are size and versatility.
"The color" measures only 60 x 38 x 17mm (e.g. iRiver's compact iFP-9 series = 64 x 51 x 20 mm) and packs a near-1-inch 65k color OLED screen for displaying MPEG-4 movies and JPEG pictures. Battery life ain't too shabby; some 13 hours per built-in li-polymer battery charge.
Next to MP3 and WMA, Ogg Vorbis is also supported. Direct-encoding can be done into WMA-format, while FM-tuner + recorder & voice recorder are also part of the deal. Of course, "the Color" also supports USB2.0. | | |
Capacities aren't known yet, but expect values of 256MB-1GB. No idea on the basic retailing price or a solid release date - if any - for western markets, but given the fact that the MR-100 was pretty popular in e.g. France, it's not unlikely that "the Color" will liven up our lives sooner or later.
