While it looks like the DDP-1500 that we
reported about last October, the
JP-2010A (portable media player) from Jacetech is an updated version that allows the user to easily swap out the hard drive. You just pop off the back cover and stick a new drive in the slot. Unfortunately, it's hardly a practical feature since its only good for 1.8-inch Toshiba drives - the same kind used in the iPod... hard to find, and expensive. It would have been better to go with a slot for 2.5-inch hard drives, considering you can get them anywhere, and for half as much. The JP-2010A is huge as it is (92 X 123 X 36 mm) so it wouldn't make much of a difference anyway. It's a good idea though and we'd like to see it more often.
The JP-2010A features a removeable battery good for over 4 hours of playback, a 3.5-inch screen (320x240), FM radio, and support for MPEG1/2/4, DviX, Xvid, MP3, WMA, OGG, AC3, JPEG, BMP and TXT. Available in Korea.
