BTC SG106 - random letters and numbers spell "6GB on-the-go" (barely)
comment: 1 | Thursday, May 19 (2005) 11:22PM | Posted by Robert Sinke
BTC's initiative to come up with their own 6GB USB-on-the-Go jukebox thingy. Sounds a bit like Gateway's attempt, right?
As you can tell from the picture, there are several (aluminium-finished) casings to choose from.In case you think that's a color screen on there - nope, it's trickery all over again. It's a regular 1.7-inch grayscale 128x128 pixel LCD. The SG106 supports MP3, WMA and OGG Vorbis, has a built-in FM radio (+ recorder). Playbacktime through the replaceable battery is some 12 hours. ![]() It's a rather humongous design at 95 x 59 x 17.6mm, plus our sourcepage says it weighs 119.5 kilograms. That's about the weight of your average-day WWF-wrestler, not really something you'd want ending up in your pockets. Even when slimming things down to 119.5 grams, it's not really lighweight or anything. But wait: that doesn't even include the battery... that ups it to 141 grams. In Europe, we call this "a brick". Nice attempt (and it'll probably be uber-cheap), but this won't break any sales records anytime soon. despite being brick-like, I'd pick one up if it's cheap...id3-database or filetree? any other specs?
