Another take on the Zen Neeon
comment: 9 | Friday, May 27 (2005) 02:56PM | Posted by Lone
Head-Fi.org member Digdub recently picked up one of Creative's new Zen Neeon players at its launch in Singapore and has provided a nice review HERE, including some photos of this tiny, sleek player. His conclusion...

For the Neeon, Creative has chosen to focus more on the design aspect of the player rather than the functionality. The Neeon has a very Zen feel to it and the 7 colors LED backlight makes the player fun and hip. The Neeon will appeal to young working adults who want something that looks classy and serves basic playback needs. For the more experienced DAP owners, the Neeon will feel like 'another similar Creative product.'

"Smaller than a credit card"

Made me realise just how small the Neeon is! From other photos I've seen I imagined it being bigger than this (although I own a Zen Xtra and any DAP looks small compared to it). The screen really must be tiny.

It's a good transition player for people that only owned flash models, or for those that are new to DAPs. For others, I must say it'd have to be a downgrade. The controls are like 3 years old, not very "creative"

Hye Creative...how about better fucntionality and fewer colors and stickers!

Style is great and all...but when fuctionality takes a back seat...I say...NO THANKS!

4 seconds, no way, c'mon thats just un realistic, the biggest gap i've ever heard on any dap was 1 second, and in general creative do fairly well to minimse gaps

There is no way there's a 4 second gap, maybe someone's stopwatch is a bit fast.

At least the Neeon seems fairly simple to use, even if it might take a little bit longer to get it to do what you want.

a 3 second gap is like the worst-ever already... 4 seconds...urghr. It's not impossible, though. The i-Bead 1000's buffering mechanism "allowed for" gaps of 5+ seconds when the hard drive was (near-) full.
