RCA Lyra RD2315 flash player - unusual shape, orange backlight

After going radical at their presentation in Eastern-Asia, RCA seems to be putting additional effort in creating randomly-named flash DAPs.

The RCA Lyra RD2315... sigh... offers the following functionalities:

  • Digital FM Tuner with FM Recording
  • Full Dot Matrix backlit display, dual orientation LCD screen (?)
  • 512MB built in memory
  • Multiple recording options; Voice Record, Line in Record and FM Record
Plus it's shaped like a bong. Officially costs 179 bucks but you can it way cheaper through Amazon.

we're talking classical bongs here, ancient Maya culture gold-plattered wide pipes with a circle-shaped evaporater thingy. Huh? I'm confused. Where am I?

Now there's a superb new marketing concept. A keyring sized mp3 flash player, with an inbuilt heat dissipating tube/channeled smoke system. Voice recording hole doubles as intake. Keypad rocker could be removable providing bowl capability.

Oh man, a bong / mp3 player hybrid? I should've waited on my purchase...

All joking aside, I picked up the RD2765 off Ebay, waiting for it to ship to my house now. I have a lot of megamix albums (mostly Eurobeat/Eurodance), so a small, solid gapless player at those low prices was too tempting to pass up. (My pockets/messenger bag are already nearly full...hence why I was originally looking at compact flash players.)

This thing is a piece of junk. It's slow, bad quality sound, shitty display...it has potential, but it's really missing out on the important things.
