 | | We speculated about the possibility of iRiver's U10 appearing in high-capacity editions a while ago, and guess what we found today: a template page for the 8GB U10. No price being mentioned over there yet, but the webshop is also offering the "regular" 512MB & 1GB editions of the U10... what's the point in plunging random figures and numbers in there, right?
The page mentions a 1-inch micro-hdd being used, which could trim the price down to bearable levels (iRiver was said to consider the use of flash memory for the high-capacity versions as well). Given the fact that the 2GB version has also popped up already, and costs about 279 Euros ("available in August")... 8GB worth of flash memory would probably be "a tad" too expensive . Also, this 8GB thing is a bit thicker in size than its flash mem-based counterparts - 69 x 47 x 21 mm vs 69 x 47 x 16mm. Still compact enough, I guess.
No indication on release date, unfortunately.
UPDATE: an anonymous user has brought it to our attention that the webshop has recently added an estimated release date for the 8GB version... "October", that'll be next October then.

An 8GB version of that might be pretty cool, the lower capacity ones aren't really going to be worth it to me really but almost 10GB in something this cool looking would be pretty tempting.
