Toy around with the Creative Zen Vision
comment: 39 | Wednesday, July 27 (2005) 04:33PM | Posted by Robert Sinke
Buh, we've got to be the main supplier of Zen Vision news by now. Let's throw another one on the pile - there are two demos available. One demo allows you to explore Vision's user interface for a bit, while the other offers a simple 360-degrees view of this thing.

Product page is active once more, who knows for how long though .

Thanks, Chirality

Sorry only really meant the batt icon, the bright blue music note, the grey background and the type used for Music library

hmm I am definately considering it, my only concern is the quickness of scrolling, but I guess most PMP's don't have a dedicated scroller.

getting through thousands of MP3s could be a problem. Though I can live with it, such a nice screen. I have to have it. Wish they would hurry up and get it out. This money is weighing me down.

Don't forget the white version of the Vision.. also another knock-off of Apple's ground-breaking innovations. Bet when the iPod w/video comes out later this year, nobody will say it's a rip-off of all the other video capable DAPs & PMPs out there. I didn't notice any mention of album cover art either - looks like they left room for it on the "now playing" screen, though. Really hope they include that as a feature.

Yeah album art seems like a given if it a player is picture capable, I don't know why companies are disregarding it.

I like it when people also say that the Zen sleek interface is an iPod ripoff

Its true the colors and the fonts look similar to the iPod's. But the menu structures are different and I would say more efficient. It would be nice if they had the 'battery indicator' change color as its discharged. Atleast they can say they did something different (unless the iPod already does that)

People who are used to creative daps would understand that you can easily jump across huge playlists (lists) by scrolling thru the alphabets - thats why a 'dedicated' scroller is not really necessary.

"Don't forget the white version of the Vision.. also another knock-off of Apple's ground-breaking innovations."

Sarcasm doesn't translate well into type. Right?!?

So let's start selling them already! I definitely want one. 30gb isn't perfect but but I can live with it. 60gb would make me buy one today.

Any idea when the istation i2 would be available and for how much?

I like the istation 2 but the vision just has such a nice screen. The higher res really makes a difference (if comparing my new PDA to my old PDA when playing vids)

Sownd,
Just a quickee comment... but yeah... the iPod photo already changes colour (green to red) when you the battery level is getting "low". It's not a gentle gradiated fade though.

However... I think this looks real nice aswell. A definite step forward for Creative. Best fo luck to 'em.

Not Bad but I'd still like to see a PMP have a widescreen aspect ratio. It's a toss up I would use it for alot of TV so 4x3 works there, I just think widescreen movies would be way too small on it.

I don't see album art either. This is a huge oversight.

I don't understand why they keep posting it and removing. What is the point?! I'm sure it will have album art, does their current PMP?

One interesting thing is that when the page was available today it had "Now availabe for pre-order!" at the top of the page. No link from it but we're obviously close to release.

I had a Nomad Jukebox 3 (40gb) from Creative, and now I have a 60Gb Ipod (Photo).

Creative Players have much more music ways to play music, you can easyly add or remove musics or albums from the "now playing", I can't do that on my Ipod. It's much easyer to make a playlist on the creative player.

The only problem of creative firmwere is that you can't see artist under genre.

I bought the Ipod cuz, creative have no player with 60gb with album art viewing.

"I don't understand why they keep posting it and removing."

If they didn't, the news and therefore the page you just typed that one would not exist.

Creative knows they got the bait, now they are just teasing all the fish.

Yes but if they merely wanted people to notice it wouldnt leaving it up on the site achieve that better. But anyways, after googling for a while I noticed a couple places speculate Europe and the US won't see this until Novemeber time. I disagree but thats not good if true.

From Creative customer support:

When asked about album art feature: "We do not have all of the information about the features and benefits of the Zen Vision. Once we get closer to the products launch we may have more information."

When asked about release date: "Unfortunately we do not have an official release date on the Zen Vision at this time."

If you look closely, you'll notice that ablum art is not displayed when music is playing. I think they have overlooked this feature.

It's gone again. Shame on Creative for playing this stupid cat and mouse game. Just leave the site alone, it's sure to create more interest that way instead of frustrating visitors (potential buyers?).

They're probably trying to get rid of the stock of that other medial player that they sell.

I was bored and I wanted to visualize how the size of this compares to that of the iPod and similar-sized players. This is the best I could do without actually owning either player.
