Philips SA-157 & 159 - riding the bullet

We've seen it before, but we'll forgive you for not remembering that weird bullet/finger-shaped player by Philips. They actually stuck a name tag on it by now: the SA-157 & 159. As we've seen for the SA-17x0 series, the index numbers stand for different capacities. The SA-157 comes with 512MB built-in memory - the 159 doubles that amount to 1GB.

These things supposedly measure 85 x 30 x 17mm, while weighing 25 grams. MP3, WMA and WAV are supported and there's a 128 x 32px LCD with 7 different backlight colors in there. USer equalizer's also included, as is USB2.0 compatibility and a voice recorder.

The SA-15x runs for 15 hours on one AAA battery and sells at about 90 Euros for the 512MB (silver) edition, 100 Euros for the 1GB (black) version. Not really a tough choice there, now is it? You'll have to wait another 3 to 4 weeks for this to hit the streets anyway.

Interesting bullet train design, but the $10 difference is probably going to be a $20-$30 difference, since most customers know a better value (well, maybe).

Looks like their quick 'Shuffle' answer. Tiny screen, ugly design...

No SD-card compartment from them? No interest to me!
