LuxPro's EZ & Top Tangent... very real indeed
comment: 16 | Friday, August 12 (2005) 06:27AM | Posted by Robert Sinke
Shortly after the Super Tangent disappeared from LuxPro's website... the EZ & Top Tangents pop up on Akiba Hotline.

No new specs or anything - not even a price setting yet. Supposed to appear in some Japanese webshop's assortment soon enough, though.

Simply rediculous. Even the box cover looks like a warped iPod ad

If it had ogg I'd be all over shipping a black one over from Japan to pair with my x5, I think it'd work out nicely. too bad

ipod studio, that's the EZ tangent, not the super tangent.

Assuming I was in the market for a flash DAP, I would rather have a something else. Nevertheless, I'd still much rather have that (Tangent) then an iPod Shuffle.

Is it just me, or does it just seem like a bad idea (ergonomically) to try and fit a dap into the shape of pack of gum?

I happen to recently have a Super Tangent given to me as a gift my dad was in Asia, He thought he had bought me an iPod but not this was better.

an OLED screen and waay better than a Shuffle, Needless to say I was at the mall the other day and Walked into the APPLE store with me TANGENT on

It nearly started a Riot among Buyers and Store employees, I couldn't help it Some people I told I worked at APPLE and it was the next gen Shuffle

Some I said it was a new shuffle totaly. When I told a girl that I thought there was one left over by the counter she almost tramplled her 4 year old to run over there A good time was had by all me.

I just bought a re-branded tangent from The Source in Vancouver. Overall, I'd have to say I'm pretty impressed with it. It does have some flaws, due to the fact that it's placing itself as a competitor to the shuffle, when it really should be competing against other dap's in its price range.

The good:

1. A pretty simple and intuitive interface.
2. Feather light.
3. FM recording, and voice recording. These are GREAT features. very useful.
4. No crappy software needed. Drag and drop your files.
5. Screen is nice and bright, and doesn't suck up precious battery life.

The bad:

1. Battery life is poor poor poor. I charged it fully, and let it play, and it was done in less than 8 hours.
2. I'd hoped it would have playlist support, or at least the ability to read a folder structure. Hopefully this kind of thing will be implemented in future firmware updates.
3. Over half the EQ presets are ridiculous.
4. The slider on the back is layed out poorly, and it doesn't feel like it's "sliding and locking"
5. The sound quality is adequate at best.

I'm going to return it, as I bought it to have music with me on a long trip, and the battery life is lacking. But if not for that, I would definitely keep it. It's a great little device.

Just to clarify. The one I purchased was a 512 Top Tangent.
