More Viliv P1 goodness
comment: 11 | Thursday, August 18 (2005) 06:43AM | Posted by Robert Sinke
We already reported on this thing before it got a proper name... you've probably seen it pass by on the regular set of gadget blogs. This device goes by the name of "Viliv P1" and is supposed to be a hybrid of the Sony PSP and a widescreen iPodesque PMP thingy.

With its basic features of a 20GB HDD, CF slot, 4-inch widescreen, user-replaceable battery and 3000 other nifty things, the Viliv P1 seemed like Utopia but it's looking very real on those pictures by now.

Only thing is, the GUI and screen quality don't really look all that convincing anymore. Guess some Sony dude barged in and started screaming "Don't steal our GUI man!". Ah well, can't have them all.

Omg, not another one! So many PMPs for me to choose from now! Do you think Apple would have any kind of right to go after them because of that clickwheel type variant its got?

That looks like one of those photoshopped video ipods. Haha.

And I'm loving the 'Unlimited Excitement' on the bottom of the screen. Yeah buddy.

Yeah, with only a 20 GB hard drive, it's not even close to being 'unlimited.'

I think it'd be better without that click-wheel.

Don't worry, shiftis, Apple's lawyers will have something to say about that click-wheel soon enough...

This is vaporware, folks. I don't know why it's even getting press.

Oh, it's gorgeous. It's everything we want a PVP to be, so therefore, it will never see the light of day.

You can buy this thing from the company. It's not cheap though. The "Standard Package" is $438.00 USD and $50.00 to ship it to the United States.

I can confirm that the above email address seems legit. That's where I got the order form from. Haven't bit the bullet and spent the $$ yet though...
