Incoder HD E1 - that's... not exactly... pretty

Wow, someone has been busy using the ugly stick again! We specifically told you manufacturer guys that people don't like devices that are made out of 90% unattractiveness. Still, Taiwan-based Incoder decided to ignore that and voila - the HD-E1 was born. We imagine it's already 2 years old or something... but still proudly presented on the company's website. Google didn't proof very useful here.

Anyway, the HD E1 is introducing a 60GB Hard drive compatibility (standard capacity...10? to 30GB) *and* a compact flash card slot. The device supports MP3, WMA and WAV, has an IR receiver built inside of it, as well as a line-in encoder, true line-out (for "small speakers", as they put it) and can be recharged through USB(2.0).

Nowadays, the 128x80 dot screen, 8 hour battery life and brick-resembling size of 134 x 82 x 28mm don't seem to be the exact specifcations we're looking for in a modern-age DAP. Nice glow behind that touch wheel-resembling control mechanism, though.

Anyone ever heared of this dinosaur before? Possibly even bought one? Did it try to kill one of your relatives, and if so - in what way? Please enlighten us.

Those speakers on the sides are neat though.

There still isn't much high design in the DAP wrold. I've wondered why recently while shopping for a turntable. There are beautiful elegant turntable designs.

They fail at DAP design.

Look at all that wasted space that could be used for a big, juicy OLED screen. What a pity.
