Cool software of the day: MixMeister BPM Analyzer
comment: 7 | Wednesday, September 21 (2005) 09:43AM | Posted by Lone
We've dug up another useful piece of software for music heads out there: this one's called MixMeister BPM Analyzer.

Simply import your music files (Mp3, WMA, and WAV are supported), and the program scans them to find out the tempo of each song (in BPM, or beats per minute), and then tags that songs BPM field with the correct value. It takes a few seconds to analyze each track, but in a few hours you can have the BPM tag filled on every track in your digital music collection. Then you can use smart playlists in iTunes (or a similar program) to create real tempo based playlists (ie. to make a playlist of only fast songs, use BPM > 140). Experiment away.

I tried this a few weeks ago. It screwed up my album art in iTunes for some of the songs and mucked around with some of the tags by adding the track number before the name. Strange thing is it only did it with a random selection of the songs.

Sounds cool but I prefer Predixis MusicMagic which comes with the latest version of WinAmp.
