i-Bead 700 - hot dang, that's looking good
comment: 11 | Thursday, September 22 (2005) 08:09PM | Posted by Robert Sinke
We've seen it with our own eyes not too long ago, and told about it a couple of months ago already - but now it seems as if South-Korean i-Bead is preparing the square-shaped i-Bead 700 for launch indeed.

We don't know if they've got plans to release it in America, but as we've seen with the MobiBlu DAH-1500i... it would probably be quite a nice idea to do exactly that. The 700 is darn stylish, despite the rather smallish screen and all.

Granted - it's not exactly as small as MobiBlu's cube, but quite a few people won't mind. This looks like the type of device that makes us daydream... sitting behind a stylish piano... acting like you're a master of virtuosity, switching on the i-Bead 700... the crowd goes "aaaah".

Snap out of it, Rob. Ok, here's the list of specs:
  • 45 x 45 x 16.5mm
  • Weighs 38g
  • Capacities: 512MB/1GB(2GB in the works)
  • 262K color 1.2inch TFT LCD, 160x128 pixels
  • Supports MP3, AVI, WMA, ASF, OGG, JPEG, TXT
  • Battery life: 3 hours for video playback, 20 hours for audio playback
  • USB2.0 compatible
  • FM radio
  • Voice recorder
  • Clock, stop watch

Not sure what it's gonna cost... probably ends up being quite expensive. But then again, as mentioned before - it didn't feel as classy as it looks (plastic-like bumpers as seen on the corners... not like it fell apart when touching it, of course), so it doesn't have to be that bad in terms of affordability.

Come on I-bead, Rob's done a review of an i-bead product, give him some love (a 700 would do nicely).

i agree, it looks sharp (literally). also, why do the earphones look like the X5's earphones or maybe Cowon's other players? (i'm too lazy to check). they must buy it from the same cheap supplier.

A lot of earphones look like that I believe. I think the gigabeat came with a similiar pair as well. They're not that good (at least for the X5).
