Gmini 402cc - Official and Live on Archos.com
comment: 14 | Wednesday, October 05 (2005) 10:37AM | Posted by Robert Sinke
Archos has put up a product page for the Gmini-402cc - that's the 402 with camcorder functionality and a 1.3MP photo camera built-inside.

No "official" price has been given yet, but expect it to be 50 Euros more expensive than the regular 402. Not sure if it's worth it to the average-day-Joe on his average-day-streets, doing-the-average-DAP-routine... might be interesting for us to use while reporting from some event's floors.

If the screen really looks that good in real life, I'll get one.

Extremely cool and potentially very fun!

The product speaks for itself. The rest depends on Archos' marketing skills.

I would prefer 60GB and 2MP, but that's because I'm one of those people that want it all. AND I'M WILLING TO PAY FOR IT

Yeah, 1.2MP is pretty crappy.

I think it would be easy for a DAP manufacturer to please the people that post here. If they read the posts on this site for a couple weeks they would have a pretty good idea of what everyone wants.

I can't blame them for trying to keep costs down, but by cutting corners they are also alienating the most knowledgable segment of the market. This is important because people that don't know jack about DAP's always ask their knowledgable friends which one they should buy.

That said, I think this is the one I would buy if I was in the market for a 20 gigger. Did I mention that I want 60GB.....?

I might be intereted if the thing looked better, but what's with the buttons oozing out like that, it's scary.

I reckon that Archos are just testing the territory again. They've done camera attachments to various mp3 players before, with little customer interest. If these sell reasonably well, you can guarantee that the Gmini 403cc, will have 3MP resolution at least.

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm reasonably sure that I saw the 402cc in Heathrow Dixons (Tax Free) last week?! I didn't have time to stop and look though.

I think it's fugly. They messed up with the red. Everytime I look at it makes me think of that, even more fugly, disposable digital camera that was hacked six ways 'till sunday.

Anyway a Dutch webshop has it on its site for €349
