Why buy one of MSI's
MEGA players when you can get
The ULTRA, from Ultra Products. Ultra is like 100 times more powerful than Mega, so you know it's totally awesome. Somehow they managed to stuff 14 different features into this one device. It even has one feature that no other DAP in the world can claim... built-in email capability. Plug the Ultra into a computer, and with the included email client, you can send messages to anyone on the world wide web. Amazing stuff, this technology.

Back to reality: what we have here is a generic MP3/WMA player with some kind of pre-loaded email application. Take any storage device, install a freeware email client (Mozilla Thunderbird or a million others), and you would have the same thing. It's just a marketing gimmick. Lame!
Aside from that, the Ultra does have some nifty features: FM radio, radio recording, voice recording, an SD/MMC card slot, it runs on a standard AAA battery, and it will recharge the battery while plugged into USB. The remaining "features" are a real stretch... they're counting iD3-tag support, the USB 2.0 interface, multi-language support, and that it works as a USB drive, MP3 player, and WMA player to hit the magic 14-in-1 claim.
All in all, the Ultra is a fairly mediocre DAP with a couple of perks. For the right price, hey, that's OK. The MSRP is a bit ridiculous at $ 150 but you can get it at
JR.com for $ 100. The
Sansa e100 from Sandisk has the same list of features (sans battery recharging) for about the same price, although you get double the memory (1gb) and it supports WMA10 DRM as well. You'll have to install your own email client, however. heh.
