KNC HR-811 - and you thought the *name* was weird

 | | Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't have eaten that somewhat fungus-laden fortune cookie, because I'm starting to see things that just can't be real.
Take this device, for instance. I mean, really - what is this? Ok, so it's officially called "KNC HR-811" (very inspiring and easy to remember) and comes with 512MB worth of flash built-in memory. A 65k color OLED-type screen allows for picture viewing and MP3/WMA plus ASF are supported in terms of audio playback.
But, dear me... what is up with this design? A few possible sources of inspiration come to mind here:
- Alien walkie-talkie used for "phoning home"
- Sonic the Hedgehog plunged into a barrel of molten chrome-like materials
- The ultimate grappling hook, with integrated picture of your loved one - remember, you're doing it for her/him
- Temporal insanity
Now it's your turn to take a guess. I for one, liked the equally-weird original M-Bird a lot better.
