iAudio U3, more pics
comment: 23 | Saturday, October 22 (2005) 10:41AM | Posted by Robert Sinke
The iAudio U3, made by Cowon, has emerged every here and there - the logical result of all of this would have to be: pictures.

Nice screen, from what we can tell - as many as 8 (equally-large) lines of information can be fit into it, which probably makes browsing menu items and such a lot easier.

By the way... is it just me... or does that joystick look like it's quite, eh, humongous?

Via our own forums, thanks -monsterplay-

Yay no lame COLOR SOUND is on the player looks nice especially in black. The joystick kind of killed the design... a bit too big?

Looks great. It seems to have the same GUI as the X5.

Why do so many manufacturers insist on plastering their name or the products name all over the front face? It doesn't add anything to the appearance and in many cases spoils what is otherwise a nice clean look.

i, for the most, agree musicman, but in this case the iaudio isnt really done in bad taste..."color sound" on the other hand, ugh. That is the problem when korean companies try to market products internationally. Things can messed up in translation and I suppose taste (word choice?) differs here in the United States than in korea. Maybe these type of sayings arent considered stupid in korea, who knows. Its kind of inexcusable, though for a company to f*** up in this way. One would think that any American employee at Cowon would say to their korean superiors"er...sir/mam, what the hell does color sound mean, it doesnt seem neccessary and it wouldnt be popular in the US"

I don't see anything wrong with the iAudio in this case. It's a great way of getting to advertise something too. If I saw someone using a DAP on the train and I didn't know what it was I could see the brand or the name and look it up when I get home.

Don't mind the logo, looks nice. Color Sound on the other hand, egh...

Would have liked it if they could have kept the back clean aswell, but that's just a minor detail.

iAudio U3 is almost exactly what I want. Almost.

If it only came with standard AAA battery instead. And that joystick replaced with 5-way push-buttons instead like iRiver T10.

AAA battery why, I'm using a player that runs off these temporarily and they hold very little power, I'm getting about two hours playback from them.

2 hours playback is the players fault - or weak batteries. Try the latest 970mAh AAA-batteries from GP. At least 15-20 hours should be the minimum with a current-effective player. Personally I use an AA 2500mAh for my iRiver IFP-795, and it certainly provide ample playbacktime.

Maybe your right but if it has to be standard size batteries I'd rather have AA than AAA, but in all honesty I prefer the inbuilt rechargeable battery option.

If it doesnt mess too much with the size... I prefer a user replaceable battery... but thats often not the case so to have one built in is okay

Well when I say inbuilt, I guess I don't actually mean that, mobile phone style, and like the zen micro, the iriver h10 5&6Gb, and the Sony HD5 types of battery are the ideal in my mind.
