Saw this over at Geeks.com, thought it might make a good Christmas or birthday gift in the $ 50 range. Lots of features and the big color screen make it look more expensive than it is.

• Game Function
• JPEG Picture Display
• 1.9-inch CSTN color LCD
• Text to Speech 2.0
• Line-in MP3 Encoding

• Phone Book Function
• Text View Function
• Stop Watch Function
• Calculator Function
• Built-in rechargeable battery, up to 15 hours playback
• SRS WOW sound effect
• USB Flash Drive
• Includes protective case

The button and screen design reminds me of an upgraded XS202, It's features are pretty damn amazing for the price. It even has Text to Speech built in! Very awesome.

good spot, piggen. Yes indeed, it's a V@mp vp325 rebrand. Didn't find any reviews but a related engadget news item and a pic gallery:

Looks nice, a little thick but for $ 50 no big issue.

It looks pretty sweet but I have one bone to pick: lack of expandability. No memory slot (unless it's at the bottom and unmentioned in the product data above)? Worth $50 indeed but being stuck at 256mb would be a downside.

Hey Steve you think they might've placed the Text to Speech app inside the player? so if we had a text file, there could be a voice that reads it through the headphones. I don't see the point of mentioning it if it's not included in the player itself.

Jeez what do you expect for that price, maybe if you ask nicely they will gold plate one for you.

Piggen, you're right - this is the same thing and it's quite a decent little player as long as you don't expect miracles. Firmware can be a bit buggy here and there, although I imagine they've fixed things along the road.

ssjmichael said they have a black 512 MB one at $59, but AFD's link shows it for $159, which seems a lot less attractive.

I'm saying from the same geeks.com website. I also said it's sold out, which sucks. They don't even seem to have it on their site anymore. Ah well.
