The one and only iPod Killer...video

"Company X announces iPod killer!"... "The Blah Blah Z Alpha Plus could turn out to be the ultimate iPod killer!"... "So is this the iPod Killer we've all been waiting for?" - it's beyond me why everyone's using the phrase "iPod Killer" so often. A) No matter how great a competing DAP turns out to be, it won't make all those billions of iPods automatically explode and B ) I forgot what I wanted to say here.

But if there's one definition of "iPod Killing", it should include a link to SmashMyiPod. No matter how insane or immensely cool you think this whole concept of smashing a freshly-bought iPod right in front of the Apple Store's clerks is, fact of the matter remains that this indeed comes as close to "iPod killing" as it'll ever get.
Now with live video, apparently.

Just watched the video myself (yeah, we've got other things to do at times)... not funny. "Lame" and "disappointing", even if you're into this type of thing, would be more appropriate terms.

The whole thing has no point. If they wanted to "stick it to the man", they should have bought a broken one off of eBay and do a swap at the store.

i dont suppose they used final cut pro to edit it?....no they didnt, its bloody ten minutes long, and all they needed was at most 40 seconds...jesus the dude looked so weedy too....ah that was just creap, really awful, i wouldn't have done that, what a waste of money....see how groups find togetherness....god that was crap....smite them oh mighty smitor

I have to agree, that really was totally "lame". I had such high hopes of a reasonable production / well executed stunt. I have no issue with the concept of pulling such a stupid wasteful prank, but... if you're going to use other people's money to achieve it, you should make more of an effort to plan the event. Shame on them.

Oh... and the guy looked like the b*stard child of Steve Jobs & Bill Gates. I think the mighty lord Smitor, already did his job on the poor visually challenged fella when he was born.

Isn't this a Canadian initiative? therefore, Canadian money... 400 CAD = 340 bucks. Don't wanna watch the video again (it's embarrassing) to check anything, though.

they couldn't actually break it in the store and they didn't get people's reactions on video.

so it was just watch 15 minutes of video to see a lot of standing around and 10 seconds of hitting an ipod with a hammer on a sidewalk.

the climax was when they were asked once to leave the store and they politely cooperated.

don't waste your time.

I thought they were going to open it at the counter and smash it with a hammer there. Too long and very big letdown. What a bunch of tough guys. Hey, we smashed it later when nobody was around. But then my mom came home and sent me to my room without getting to watch Gilmore Girls. Last IPod I smash.
