Headphones with built-in iPod dock
comment: 5 | Monday, November 07 (2005) 03:18AM | Posted by Austin Vaughan
Macally has another pair of specialized headphones in the works, this one designed for the iPod Nano. It has a dedicated slot on one of the ear peices that holds the Nano, including a headphone plug at the base of the slot so it can pipe music directly into the drivers. This is similiar to the mTune Shuffle which was announced last month, a $ 50 pair of headphones with a slot to interface with the iPod Shuffle.

Clever idea, although we wouldn't recommend wearing them in public.

Wow, I like it, very cool idea, although I don't know home many players (currently) this would be useful for, only the nano because it's so small, thin, and light.:)

Stupid idea... you'd have to take of the headphones to see the screen. Also, if you're using the wheel, people are going to think you making "you're crazy" circles with your finger...

They could make an add-on using telescoping antennas and a couple of mirrors - when you want to see the screen you extend the antennas so the mirrors reflect the screen in front of you. This way you can keep right on listening to the music!

-I better get this over to the patent office quick.

Now, if they did a version for the full iPod, then you could feed the TV-Out to a set of those head-up-display glasses, so you could actually control the thing without taking the headphones off. Of course, you'd look a total jerk, but you've got to suffer for your geekhood, don't you?

Heh, reminds me of a radio with the same concept I once had. It was huge and had this big antenna (just imagine that on someone's head ). And I actually wore it once to school. Was about 10 years ago though, so it wasn't that ridiculous Good ol' times.

walking with that on the street is like wearing a sign that says "steal it!"... other than that it looks pretty cool

Yeah, because the nano is SO large and heavy to carry around.

I'm not saying I'd ever buy it (cause I wouldn't) but I do think it's a neat idea. But yes people who do actually wear that are going to look like fools.

I can't suggest dancing vigorously like a dumbass as seen in the iPod ads.

I think someone should make something like this for the MobiBlu DAH-1500 players -- and instead of being big headphones they could be like warty Walkman foam earphone pads on a wire.

I just realized to, imagine the damn things falling off your head and crashing to the ground (breaking the nano's weak screen). All it takes is for some idiot to walk into, by accident.

They should make one for the 5g iPod, and then have it come with optional glasses so you could watch video without having to hold anything or deal with messy wires!
