PMP + Digital Camera = Samsung i6
comment: 6 | Tuesday, January 03 (2006) 03:26PM | Posted by chicubs
A few have tried the whole "lets mix a camera and a pmp" thing, but most attempts have failed. Ok, well, there was the Archos Gmini 400 camcorder thing, but remember the Olympus MR-500? That didnt turn out so hot. Samsung hopes it can suceed where Olympus failed.

The #11 PMP or i6 (outside Korea) has only 1gb of memory and can play various music and video formats. It does all of this on a 2.5in TFT screen. It is also comes in at a relatively slim 18.5mm. Obviously, this thing also can take pictures at an impressive 6 megapixels.

I'm still foggy as to why anyone would want to put other people's pictures/videos on their own camera. Usually when you show someone something on your little LCD screen, it's something you shot. We're getting so damn lazy and uncreative...

This seems more like a camera that can play music than a DAP with a camera. I'm a bit surprised DAPs haven't gone the cellphone route and put cheap cameras on the players.

I must agree with Jebediah... this is no dap or pmp with a camera... its a camera that can play back music and video, (yes there is a difference... a dap with a camera is centered around the usage of a dap, which the i6 is not... it seems to be oriented around a camera) only the ces will tell for sure though
