For sale: TAVI 20gb PMP with Hi-Def TV output

Not much of a deal at $ 500, but Wal-Mart finally has the 20gb TAVI in stock. We've hit you will all the specs before - see HERE - but the main thing that makes this one stick out from the crowd is the support for hi-def video output, including 480p, 720p, & 1080i. To go along with that, you get optical audio output for 5.1 channel AC3.

Check it out at Wal-Mart.comThe TAVI has everything else you'd expect in a high-end PMP, including support for MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC audio, Divx 3.11/4/5, XviD, MPEG1 (VCD), MPEG2 (DVD), and MPEG4 video up 720x560 pixels at 30fps. Other features include built-in stereo speakers, a custom EQ, 3D sound effects, FM radio/recording, line-in audio recording, USB Host, voice recording, picture viewing (JPEG, BMP), text viewing, and a battery good for 5 hours video or 10 hours of music.

Only thing missing I can see is support for WMV, which needs to be transcoded for playback. The built-in screen is only 320x240, but it does allow for a more portable design. Audio recording is a little weak with a top bitrate of 128kbs. Otherwise, this seems like an awesome player for use at home and on-the-go.

Unforunately, the only review we know of was written in Korean - see HERE - so we're not sure how good it is just yet. The company's website can be found HERE but there ain't much to it.

Thanks, Lone

Wow. I still don't understand how an unknown company can produce and release a BETTER product than any of the electronics giants.

At least its connected to a retail giant.

Love to have one myself.. but $500, ouch. If only I had an HDTV, I would probably buy.

I really like the design of this thing, about the same size as Game Boy Advance SP. Too bad about the price though.

Very nice design, but for that kind of price i'd want it do everything, including games, and the hd should be bigger. Now if they lost the hdtv out and dropped the price accordingly i'd be interested.

er yeah good eye chicubs, i missed that. i guess it doesn't record video.... and at this price, it should. plus, 20gb won't last too long with HD video.

make it 60-100GB, give it al necessary cables (for 5.1 optical audio etc.), pouch, decent earbuds, and it's great price ... now ... I wander if even one will be sold in wallmart considering that the price is meant for rich people who will just buy the ipod instead (rich doesn't equal brains ...)

Wait awhile...the price will drop. People with the money don't want one. People that want one don't have the money.

I would have gotten one but the fact that it has 20gig for 500bucks turned me off. If it was 40gig or maybe even 30gig I would have taken a more serious look at it.

I hate to say it, but because it is only available at Wal-Mart, my overall impresions of the player have gone down.

By charging 500.00 a piece...

One thing that "electronic giants" have to factor in, is keeping the price down. Having all the best stuff packed in raises costs tremendously and the company is running the risk of losing money if it doesn't sell well.
