Sony Bean Discontinued

Poor Beany. Sony is killing him.

Music players are also turning over rapidly. Sony's Bean MP3 player was launched at the end of August. Yesterday, the company confirmed that it will be discontinued in April. It insists that repairs are still available long after production ends.

Good. Less halfass flimsy players for sony. They really REALLY need to focus a LOT more on bringing back the likes of the NW-HD5. That had (almost) everything going for it;
-40hrs battery life
-removable battery
-5/2 band EQ for atrac/mp3
-small size w/ 20gb storage
-amazing sound quality

Now theres software available which allows you to completely disregard sonicstage. Which is why i said it almost had everything going for it. And *now* it does.

Revive the HD5 w/ better stock software....OR

Bring out an HD7 with the same standards as the HD5, and improve on the missing features:

-5band eq for MP3
-gapless for mp3
-color screen
-jog wheel

This is great news... Looks like Sony will be totally revamping there flash memory players this April/May. Hopefully 2GB for Ł100, wouldn't that be nice! Colour Screens, colour screens PLEASE!

Thank god for that - it really was a piece of junk. I saw it in a local electronics store and it felt completely flimsy.

Konica-Minolta now Sony. Hopefully they do better and not screw off 80 some years of photo technology.
