Vosonic VP8360

Aha... another Vosonic multimedia image tank thing. Obviously, nobody really cared for the VP8350 so we'll try to keep things fairly short in here to avoid eternal boredom from kicking in.

The VP8360 basically takes the VP8350 concept up a notch by introducing a more standard rechargeable battery and "enhanced ergonomics". It's also a bit bigger due to the use of a 2.5-inch hard drive (rather than the VP8350's 1.8-inch drive, so you can basically insert a 120GB HDD in there) but still supports a whole slew full of formats (ranging from standard stuff like MP3, WMA, MPEG4 to e.g. MOV and several RAW profiles). The "image tank" character is emphasized by the Compact FlashTM Card type I/type II (CF), Memory Stick® (MS), Secure Digital Card (SD)/MultiMedia Card (MMC) and IBM ®MicroDrive card compatibility (for copying stuff from one medium to another and so on). There's also an adapter that allows you to use different standards, like mini-SD.

The most important thing is still in there as well: a good game of Tetris. Woohoo! In all seriousness, though - if you're interested in the VP8350 & 8360, check out Josh Brankman's site - he has posted some useful findings on these thingies.

I actually thought that the 8350 was pretty neat back at the Cebit. Shame nobody cares about them.

Large? Check out one of it's main rivals, the Epson P-2000. Now that's large. I think this is manageable. Yes, it's no iPod, but it's not meant to be. This is a more niche device for photographers, etc. It works quite well as that.

Never saw this page before! I have one, 100gb, and it's awesome for emptying memory cards onto every day of a trip, then reviewing and editing every night, video too. Average sound quality from the mp3 player but it's a great portable hard drive, or for back up.
