Double LG whammy
comment: 11 | Sunday, June 04 (2006) 06:58PM | Posted by Robert Sinke
LG sure is keeping itself busy these days. In addition to the FM30, they've recently launched the 8GB JM53 and that weird little DMB-thing - the FM35.

Minivian again took the camera out and shot lots of purdy pictures for y'all to enjoy during these lazy (post) pentecost hours.

LINK (FM35) & JM53

every new dap seems to have a circle cituated in the center of the control. Iin all the recent news stories on the home page of dapreview right now, only 1 dap, the i audio microdrive one, doesn't have a circle situated in the middle of the controls. They may not function the same as the clickwheel, but they sure seem to resemble it. It just shows that it's getting harder for companies to compete with the ipod with their dap designs, and are having to use the same basic design structure in order to get a foot hold in the market.

^ That is completely rubbish (Sorry, no offence). These devices are not even made to compete with the iPod, the FM35 is a Korea only device. And the iPod is not even popular here. And if you think that LG made the control pad round to compete with the iPod, think again, it does not resemble it in any way. The iPod also, is not the first company to invent circular controls. Also, in here, in Korea, the players without the circular controls seem to be selling better. For example the U10. It really pisses me off when people say that a circular control pad resembles an iPod, espcialy after the conflict with iOps.

EDIT: Oh ya, Breakdown, the JM53 does have a pretty lacking screen. However, the FM35 has one of the best out there. Also, screens tend to look less pretty when photographed.

LG has the clout to make a go of these in the US, I for one would like to see it in action... now why can't we have a DMB-(variant)?

Everything's coming around in a circle again

I look forward to 10/15gb in a mini-HDD sized DAP

Mighty Mouse, the JM53 is available in Canada but it is modified for North American consumers.

The JM53 is available in the UK at Dixons - I had a play with one in store earlier this week. Great features, but horrible user interface - the controls are not intuitive!

Well I must say its not to bad, it seems all of you dont own one though. I do, and I must say the software is lacking, buggy and glitchy but does what you want. The interface i find is good, just takes getting used to after the iPod trend. The main reason for the glitchyness in the software is most likely the quick port from korea to canada. The converter that came with it didnt even work at first but now i updated it and it works. Still a little buggy. Their site is a mess though, nothing works for me. I havent tried movies but im going to right away. I like it just takes getting used to i say a 7/10 for this gadget! If the software were better then 9/10!
