Venzero announces miniONE

Well well, it's all miniature these days. Remember Venzero and their strangely-appealing One device? This was the slick-looking 8GB DAP that introduced some rather exclusive features, such as "SharePort" and "MusicMarker". But hey, just read up on that later if you must - let's focus on the "Mini One" now.

This tiny edition of the original "One" (whatever happened to that mid-June release schedule?) comes with 1 or 2GB worth of flash memory. File types supported include MP3, WMA, WMA DRM 10, WAV, JPEG and BMP. It can also play video files, but you'll have to convert the original files to some proprietary format for that. The Mini One runs for about 12 hours continuously through its rechargeable Li-Polymer battery (officially anyway).

Measuring just 75 x 44 x 8.9mm while weighing a mere 28 grams, this thingy looks like a fun competitor to the Zen V (plus), which is 67.5 x 43.5 x 15.9mm, 43.5 grams in terms of size and weight.

There's a small (1.3") OLED, 128 x 96 pixels & 260k color screen on there as well. Prices (pre-order) have been set to € 119 and € 169 for the 1GB and 2GB editions respectively (available somewhere around July, supposedly so). Well, you know the drill by now - that's all very nice, but we'd like to see a 4GB version as well.

Thanks, hobo

Update: Apparently, there's a dedicated blog for the Venzero range out there too: LINK (via I4U & Engadget). Just so you know.

When will consumers realize it's not easy to attain high capacity flash memory and make profit. Seeing how this isn't even from a huge company it would be even harder for them to get that memory at discounted prices.

Many mainstream high capacity flash players are from companies that actually make the memory themselves,. This is slowly changing, but most of you don't grasp the difficulty in it. Many think it's so simple to make a 6gb player and make money from it.

These are businesses, not fantasy companies that create whatever you desire no matter the cost. If it doesn't bring in a good profit why would you spend any time on it? Most here would fail in the business world with the type of mindsets that they have.

Like the styling

This is what I meant ppl (Re Creative V "cute" thing), although in my haste I should wait for real life pics of this offering from Venzero

Re flash chips, high capacity... Samsung have only just got 32/64gb flash laptop chips...it's gonna be time before they become affordable

Come on apple! You're only good for pushing prices down :p

Maybe in person or seeing more pictures would make it look better but so far I don't like how it looks. On a positive note it does come with a butterfly AND a matchstick; most companies seem to conveniently forget those.

ssj, just because it not very feasable for a small brand to produce a high capacity flash dap does not mean we can't want one. 4 companies have them right now. wmurch3 was simply stating that he wants higher capacity flash. he wasn't talking about the feasability of a small company making one, he was just saying hes not interested until they reach a little higher. i think we all understand 4gb+ flash is a bit of a niche at this time considering its cost is near hard drive players. i'm not sure why you take such offense to people saying they want them.

zip22 with the counter-pwn :C
I love flash for its solid-statedness and its low power consumption, but I have to say that its not really worth it until samsung can release the 32 and 64gb CFtype2 chips they have at a reasonable price... I really would love to go the way of flash memory for portables and even my desktop... Decreased heat, increased transfer time, no seek/access/latency... Amazing, but the technology is still too young. Oh well, a few years i guess
