Aigo F029 Digital Watch / MP3 / Video player
comment: 16 | Monday, August 14 (2006) 12:04PM | Posted by Austin Vaughan
We've seen plenty of MP3-playing watches in the last few years but few of them had anything interesting to offer. Samsung's Yepp YP-W3 was an exception, which took the form of a pocket watch and even featured a greyscale LCD. The rest have mostly been chronograph designs with an MP3 player tucked away inside - no display, and only the most basic of controls. Functional, sure, but not much fun.

This one is a little different... and probably the most advanced. The F029 from Aigo has a full color OLED color screen (160×128 pixel resolution), it plays MP3 and WMA audio (including DRM), and it also does MPEG-4 video (Xvid/AVI). A headphone port, playback/navi controls, and mini-USB 2.0 port are located on the sides. Two models will be available, with either 512mb or 1gb of internal memory. No word yet on its battery life, the price, or availability outside of China.

Now, if only it looked less like a Kid's Meal toy..

Seriously, the plastic wristband and "funky" looking face is just tacky IMO. It'd be interesting if it were black aluminum/titanium/tungsten carbide for the actual watch body and wristband.

Actually I like it.. has a sports watch feel to it.. can't imagine the battery life is worth a damn though.. pretty neat IMO.. wristbands are easily replaced.. let's just hope that the OLED is covered by a hard crystal face .. or this thing will have a cracked screen in no time...

I like the way it displays the time, it looks very Mission Impossible-ish

First thing I have been interested in, in a very long time. Curious to see how much battery life and if the front face is removable, I see the one wrapped around the can has a different face. It could be a very nifty watch player, I hope it makes it to America.

Looks nice. I agree with 4vo, it would be way better if it looked more mature, but even as it is I think i'd buy it. I wonder if you can choose different watch faces. Voice recording would be cool too.

Probably someone will damage it by wearing the watch while working on a car or something like it, ha.

I like it, but at the rate I go through watches, probably not for me. Maybe for my friends and family, they're not into iPods and the really cheap DAPs, ha.

(damn, too many commas)
