iRiver N20
comment: 22 | Monday, August 21 (2006) 10:38AM | Posted by Austin Vaughan
Here ya are, the first real picture of iRiver's upcoming N20... which is supposed to be one of the smallest DAPs in the world (among those with a built-in display). From what it looks like, the N20 will be a miniaturized version of the U10/Clix. And the Clix is pretty small as it is. Unfortunately, we don't have any details yet about its feature set yet but we can guess that it will do most of the stuff the Clix can do minus the video.

(The N20 is pictured left next to the iRiver Clix on the right)

Nice , I would love it if it had 2 gig and decent battery life. I think the CLIX is a step in the right direction, now bring us higher capacities!!

Damn, IRiver, bring out the Clix in 6GB capacity (4gb won't do anymore, Sandisk and Apple will be hitting 8GB soon), and drop the 2gb clix's price to $150, and I'm yours.

Eh, I was hoping for an actual upgrade from the (awesome) n10 instead of another generic player.

I really wish dap makers would spend more resources in creating a single player that was perfect rather then delude the market with a ton of sub-par players. Really when your making the same damn player with the same cpu in it and just a different shell, youve screwed up and are throwing away money.

JeffMD: I agree, and there was a company that was attempting to do just that - Rio - but they went out of business.

Sigmatel bought the IP and any company that buys their chips is free to use it, but so far we haven't seen anything come of it. Not too hopeful at this point.

Most product these days is the same old stuff in different shapes, sizes and colors.

You guys must understand this. Everyday, on the subway and on the bus, I see many people with U10's, E10's and N12's. Most of the Koreans own iriver's. This is because iriver knows exactly what the Korean market likes. We don't like iPods and Creatives. We love cellphones packed with features, you guys like simple cellphones. We are all different, there's nothing to it. And don't worry about the N20, it will most likely never go to America or Europe.
