Sandisk e2x0 Firmware Update
comment: 25 | Monday, August 21 (2006) 01:52PM | Posted by Austin Vaughan
New firmware is available for Sandisk's e200 series, version 1.01.11.

• Finally, a user-customizable EQ!
• Two more EQ presets (Full Bass and Full Treble)
• Maximum number of tracks increased from 3000 to 5000
• Bugfixes and other minor changes are being reported HERE

One of our staff gave it a try and reports some additional changes:

• Volume seems a bit louder
• Wheel backlight doesn't turn off after a few seconds like it used to; it's now timed with the screen backlight setting so it goes off at the same time.
• Holding down on the select button while browsing adds a song to the Go List. Doesn't work for Artists/Albums unfortunately.

Thanks, Lone

Use Sandisk's Auto Update application and it should load automatically.

Today is SanDisk day. Good for them to have a firmware that is useful, unlike some companies that produce firmware with no good upgrade whatsoever.
Adjustable EQ, and (from what I've read) a good SQ.

this is better, now the 8gb e200 is a viable option for me.

Yeah, could we have some E200 series owners chipping in with their findings? The player looks more appealing now, especially with the 8GB option.

Is being able to add songs to the Go List by holding down the center button new, or is that just something I missed before?

Excellent firmware. This is what makes Sandisk such a promising company for now and the future.

so far, it's working fine for me...the user EQ definitely has a positive impact on the sound quality, esp. the bass output. And the volume does sound a little louder - I've listened to a couple of songs that in the past seemed a little distant before, using PX100's. It's still not ear-bleed level, but it's definitely a notch or two louder....

I'm going to try out the shuffle - I've read that the new FW messes it up a little bit - and then download a couple of 30min videos I have, to see if they play through without segmentation (I had deleted all my larger video files off my Sansa, and replaced it with music)....

This is worth creaming my jeans......good god, the sansa e260/e280 are nearly friggin' perfect.

Now all sandisk has to worry about is TWEAKING.....as in, better battery life, easier access to battery door on the go, prettier GUI, smaller size, etc.

This is definately THE ONLY flash mp3 player anyone should consider buying.

Maybe Sandisk and cowon can trade some good information so they can both improve something or another.

Tryed the firmware today and it rox. I especially like the EQ and holding down the button to add songs to the go list. Good stuff from Sandisk.

PS: I would be all for a Sandisk/iRiver merger. 8 gig clix please.

Awesome. The e260 that I picked up for ~$139 AR almost three months ago has turned out to be a great purchase. It has replaced my nano, and I've been using it more than any other DAP as of late.

By the way, Lone -- Maybe I just missed this somewhere, but was the album-track-order bug ever resolved for your player? I recall the previous firmware "fix" not working for you...

^^^^
IDK about him, but the first firmware update fixed it for me, and I think that they now ship the e2x0 with the updated FW.

Maybe it was his tags? Either way, the track order was never a problem for me.

epithhetless,

Yeah, it was fixed, but I had to get a new Sansa from Sandisk, as the firmware update that fixed the album order issue killed my player. I added this to my review a while back if you want to read in more detail.
