While Rob is over at the IFA (Internationale Funk Ausstellung) in Berlin, Germany, the rest of us who are stuck at home are trying to find some news for you guys. While visiting Viliv's website I came across some videos of the Viliv P2 in action. They are pretty sweet and show of all the features the P2 has to offer. For example you can also see how the player runs a Windows CE operating system. It obviously incorporates a WLAN module, because they go off surfing the internets with IE.
The Viliv P2 also incorporates a GPS and a DMB module and should be nearing its release date any time soon. I recently reviewed the Viliv P1 and wasn’t too convinced of the whole interface. The touch screen does look a whole load nicer though, but the video hasn't won me over 100%. In my opinion they need to hire a few good firmware programmers and graphics designers, seeing that their hardware in general is pretty solid.
I am currently working on uploading all the Videos to YouTube for easier viewing, but you can also check out
Viliv’s website. I have uploaded the first video - here it is:

This is the closest thing to a PDA with a hard drive i've seen. But the PDA's real strength is third party software; if this thing is significantly harder or impossible to develop for, or to port PDA apps to, it won't repalce a PDA as the most versatile gadget in my book. Maybe it's not meant to, but I wouldn't be able to justify the cost if it couldn't.
