Teclast TL-T29 - stylish flash PMP
comment: 16 | Tuesday, September 05 (2006) 03:22PM | Posted by Lone
New from Teclast, the makers of some fairly standard flash DAPs, comes something that actually looks pretty neat. It's called the TL-T29, and it's a high capacity (up to 4 GB) flash player that is capable of playing video. The look is reminiscent of the Oracom UB-890, albeit with a cleaner design and what looks like a four way nub controller instead of touch controls.

Specs are vague at this point (and there's no product page up yet that I can find), but the TL-T29 looks to have audio and video capabilities, 24 hours of battery life, and a 2" color LCD with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels (just like the UB-890 as it were). Dimensions are listed as 73.5 x 42.1 x 9.8 mm, and the T29 comes in white and black too. Looks pretty nice at this point, so we'll try to dig up more dirt on this device in the future.

Update: Okay, there's a bit more info here. There's a radio and recorder in there, and strangely only MP3 is listed for format support.

The interface reminds me of a PMP... and the background reminds me of the PSP background.

Yeah, it's way too similar to the PSP. But then again, I like the PSP interface so it's not all bad.

There is quite a bit of technobabble... looks like sound quality was a big issue for them. Nice. Any info on prices? Looks good btw., although it seems that the nub controller is sticking out... I don't really like that.

The company seems to mention Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and APE on their other players (e.g. the T19, which looks rather nice too)... looks very interesting.

Yeah, a bunch of stuff about the Wolfson audio chip (which is supposed to be very good or something, ask Head-Fi ). I like the design, this could be something to look out for.

Yeah, though I guess Wolfson has several DACs... but I recall that they have a pretty good reputation.

This is the T19... looks pretty similar. As far as I understand it has some sort of aluminium magnesium casing, plays XviD, Ogg Vorbis, MP3pro, FLAC, APE (?), WMA, comes with the Sennheiser MX500 (pretty decent for a bundled earphone), line in, radio, dictionary, ... And then the price... $63? wow...
I'm just a bit confused by the constant "T19 cell phone" on their product page.
