Teclast T29 reviewed, loved
comment: 9 | Saturday, October 14 (2006) 09:48AM | Posted by Robert Sinke
DAPreview member Err0r recently created a fansite for Teclast's series of DAPs, among which you can find the slick-looking T29. The name sounds like an early-WW2 Russian battle tank - yet, apparently it looks/handles a lot better on the whole, despite a few gripes here and there:

It has some points that annoy me somewhat. First off, it displays a Unicode font (Courier?) – the type of English text you see when browsing Asian websites. Secondly, the slightly loose top button. Thirdly, the fact that the strap only can be attached to the pouch and not the player itself. Finally, the navigation can take some time to be understood and mastered.

The Teclast T29 is a great player. Good functions, good bundle of accessories, good sound and a nice exterior. Its small size makes it very portable and its cheap price makes it very affordable. Teclast are prompt with firmware updates. Just two days ago a new firmware was released for the T29 fixing some problems and improving navigation, making it more logical. If this continues, in some time some of my annoyances towards this player could be extinguished.

Well, you know, it's not generally available outside China, and I don't know if the higher capacities have been released yet.

I wonder if this comes with a dock for my vintage Russian tank?

LOL... well it got alot of buzz when it first came out, but for some reason nobody cares about it now. Probably cuz of the S10 and iPod newspost...

*lol* Steve

Well, yeah, iPod and S10 steals the attention, but this Teclast seems to be a nice budget player everyone can afford. If it would be available.

The Oracom, Meizu, Teclast and maybe the U10 styled players look pretty nice. I hope more companies will continue this style.

I think everyone's pretty much summed it up for this player, both here and on the two threads in the forums:

-Cheap
-Great feature set
-Some design/build shortcuts that allow for the above
-Not likely to leave Asia anytime soon
-Wait-and-see on those 2 and 4 GB models

and one more:

-Limited to non-existent marketing, even in China
