Transform the iriver S10 into a...Watch?
comment: 27 | Wednesday, January 10 (2007) 03:20PM | Posted by Michael
Today, iriver is showing off a new accessory for their ultra small, super cute iriver S10. It's a USB bracelet that you can slide the S10 into. This isn't the first time we've seen a DAP Watch, but this one looks a lot more stylish.

Interestingly the bracelet covers the headphone jack, but I'm guessing the bracelet itself is a Bluetooth transmitter (hence the USB) if you look closely there's a Bluetooth logo below the screen, indicating an updated version of the S10. Details are pretty sparse right now, but there are a few more pictures to look at in the link below.

Thanks Jeff!

It's actually an alternate version of the S10 equipped with Bluetooth, hence the Bluetooth logo on the player itself. iriver has a prototype with them but it was not available for me to see whilst visiting today. It is still in the very early stages of development.

^ Jenn, that is not a real iriver product, it was from a review by earlyadopter and they were just "pretending" and questioning on what an S10 watch would be like.

I really like the curvy look of this thing. And better, unlike other DAP watches, it is actualy a DAP that functions perfectly well by itself. I also like the idea of the USB plug being built into the watch.

Finally, a mp3 player watch with Bluetooth. That said, I'm not surprised to hear that this is a while from actually appearing - the S10's battery life isn't great as-is, and Bluetooth really won't help.

The wrap for the player is quite thick, perhaps it contains an extra battery ... it would be able to charge over usb so possible
less then 8h battery life = dealbreaker

Now this I like... band is a bit thick and it will need to be adjustable, but I'm willing to suffer with it. ...bluetooth earphones and I'm in... if.. it's ever released here.....

This thing looks like the ultimate workout mp3 player with bluetooth. I also like the new design iriver has given the clix and S10, the "boob-tube".

I must be really dumb but I haven't noticed why you guys liked bluetooth on this thing. I see how little clutter you would get now.

What a great world we live in, eh? Due to the onward march of technology, we can now have a watch with 8hrs battery life (S10) or a mobile telephone with 5hrs battery life (iPhone).

Still, these shiny bits of dead technology are very pretty to look at while we wait for them to recharge. Let's just hope we don't need to know the time, or make a call while we are waiting.

5hrs talktime battery life for the iphone, that seems in or around the norm.

5hr talk-time is the norm for GSM phones :\ If it was 5hr standbuy, id call crap, but 5hr talk time isnt out of place.
