iriver Clix2 released in Korea
comment: 24 | Monday, February 12 (2007) 06:52PM | Posted by Lone
Remember the Clix2?

The bigger, badder (well, actually it's smaller) sequel to the original iriver Clix was released in Korea today, with much fanfare from iriver on their Korean site (it seems to be just going by 'Clix' over there, by the way). In addition to the thinner design, the Clix2 sports a new, brighter AMOLED screen, a bump to 30 FPS video playback, and the ability to act as both an MTP and MSC device. Seems like a solid update for sure, and definitely something to consider if you're looking for a flash player when it becomes available around the world.

Prices in Korean are 159,000 won and 199,000 won for the 2 and 4 GB models, respectively. Remember, an 8 GB model will be coming too at some point, probably the greatest reason to get the Clix2 over the original.

So cool!!! I absolutely love it. Definitely a candidate for my next DAP. The accessories look so cool as well and there's also a completely user customizable UI too!!!

MTP and MSC, that's good. What was the first Clix, just MSC or just MTP?

Nice upgrade.

I think with that last clix you had an option of either MSC or MTP.

With the iriver clix you can also transfer via Windows Explorer by simply dragging and dropping files into the player. The player is MTP, so you will need Windows XP. This is unfortunate since the U10 was UMS compatible.

This does look nice, but I'll wait for the 8GB to consider it. I wonder what the price will be for the 8GB version? $170 for 2GB and $213 for the 4GB models are too high IMO, but we've seen initial price announcements drop like rocks once actually released, so those numbers don't scare me.

"UNLIMITED VIEWING ANGLE"

yeah, right. How's the view from the back of it?

I hadn't noticed it before, but it looks like they replaced the proprietary USB connection with a standard port. Nice.....

Lacene, I expect better from a pro like you:

^That newspost informs us that The Clix2/U20 will be MTP and MSC compatible. It also mentions the it "will be in line with the iPod nano 2 on a per-gigabyte basis."

I'd say that the clix2 is a worthy nano competitor. It better drop in North America soon, because items like the meizu M8 and iphone will begin to overtake this dap saturated market.

timmins, you put me in my place, man........

well, no, not really... I was referring to bloody's and Steve's posts about the first generation Clix, which is MTP only. But you're right, the Clix2 is MTP + MSC.

bloody was referring to Steve's question, but he says "last" Clix, when he really meant the "first" Clix, so it's confusing. He meant "last", as in previous......

A miscommunication my friend. I inferred that your link implied that the clix2 would be MTP (which it kinda did ). I commonly read too much into things.

Pricing for the U.S. will be slightly cheaper and inline with the Nano pricing.

UNLIMITED VIEWING ANGLE"

yeah, right. How's the view from the back of it?

The new AMOLED screen is VERY nice.... There truly is not a bad viewing angle...

Pretty good. Msc is essential as my PC has broken and I only have a mac, anything that negates having to use iriver plus is also essential as that software was a piece of crap.
