Upcoming players from Shiro

Now that CES is behind us, the next big event for us DAP enthusiasts is ceBIT (Mar. 15th-21). We probably won't see too many new players but there should be enough to wet our collective pallettes. A trio of players from Shiro will be making their debut at this years event. Shiro is best known for the AS, a soccer ball shaped DAP. Their upcoming line-up will be three flash players that share a lot of the same features.

Shiro ME, VE, and MK

  • Capacity: 4GB (2GB on MK)
  • Display: VE- 2.4", ME and MK - 1.8"
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, and WAV
  • Video: AVI, SMV, and WMV (see chart for differences)
  • Expansion: VE -microSD, ME -miniSD, MK -SD/MMC
  • Dimensions: ME - 81 x 40 x 12.1 mm, VE- 71 x 43 x 10 mm, MK - 76 x 43 x 15 mm

From a design point of view I'd say the ME looks to be much better than the other two. This really raises the question as to why there are three players instead of one. Aside from the display size and expansion slot differences, these three players are fairly similar. Battery life is still not listed yet but we should find out when ceBIT officially starts.

The players don't look that bad. The specs aren't too great though...
