A lot of iriver news to report on today, including two new clix 2 reviews, and more details on the W10. So let's begin shall we: | | T60 Officially Announced
The T60 debuted at CES alongside it's brother the T50. The design is pretty much the same, except for the type of battery being used. The T60 uses 1 AAA, while the T50 operates by an AA. The features are also the same, including support for MP3, WMA, and Ogg. The T60 will be available in 1 and 2GB capacities and in either black, white, or blue.

Cnet reviews the 2nd Gen iriver clix
Cnet recently reviewed the 2nd generation iriver clix. Despite marked improvements from the previous generation, the clix 2 landed the same score as the original. It's hard to complain though when you consider it's the highest score given to any DAP, and the fact that it was given an Editor's Choice award.
The Good: The next generation iRiver Clix is even sleeker and slimmer than its predecessor, but offers the same unique and intuitive interface and stellar audio quality. This player comes packed with extras such as an FM radio; a voice recorder; an alarm clock; support for subscription content as well as OGG and Audible files; and photo, video, and text viewing. The Clix includes SRS Wow sound effects, it has good battery life, and it's priced competitively.
The Bad: There's no cradle or line-in recording options for the new Clix yet, and iRiver doesn't offer an easy way to get video content for the device.
The Bottom line: The iRiver Clix offers the perfect blend of hot design, desirable features, and stellar sound quality. If you're looking for an alternative to the iPod Nano, this device should top the list.

 | | Pocketables reviews the 2nd Gen clix
Let's see, Jenn from Pocketables.net has reviewed the S7, S10, X20, and even checked out the D26. Of course she was going to do a full review of the clix 2 (and any future iriver player for that matter). Her review is nicely written and filled with wonderful pictures of the clix 2's dazzling interface. A portion of her conclusion states:
"Priced to take on the iPod nano (2GB: $150, 4GB: $200, 8GB: $250), the iriver clix 2 makes quick and dirty work of it and any other flash player from any other company out there. In fact, its most formidable rival is actually its cousin, the X20, which has a removable battery, microSD card expansion slot, and line-in function that would've made the clix 2 the most amazing and flash DAP to date." W10 coming in July
I know many people here (including myself), have been eagerly awaiting the W10. This slim flash player has a great looking 3" touchscreen, and a built-in WiFi to receive music wirelessly from Rhapsody's subscription service (similar to the Sansa Connect). While checking out Pocketables, one of our members spotted comments from iriver America's PR contact, Mike Kelly. He says the W10 will arrive in the US sometime in July and will have the following:
- WQVGA widescreen display
- 8GB flash memory with mini-SD slot for expanded memory
- Touchscreen navigation (stylus included or you can use your finger)
- WiFi adapter so you can stream content directly from your computer, and even make VoIP phone calls.
- Location-based GPS functionality with pre-programmed hotspots in major cities so you can find restaurants or a hospital for example.
- Support for a wide variety of text, audio, video, and photo file formats includng MPEG4, WMV9, MP3, WMA, and AAC.
Sounds quite impressive. One thing that I'm unclear about is the miniSD expansion slot. At CES, the W10 had a regular SD slot. I'd rather the latter of course since it could potentially add support for SDHC cards. | | |
