Thinner Meizu M6 coming this Summer?
comment: 15 | Wednesday, May 23 (2007) 03:22PM | Posted by Michael
The M6, put Meizu on the map last year, and their recently released M3 (aka Music Card) showed they're here to stay. The latest whisperings from China indicate a revamped M6 in the works. Recently Meizu CEO, J. Wong said the following (roughly translated): "August continuation of the direction of a super-thin version M6se (near 7mm thick) will be listed, But listing only 8G models, but was only 999 yuan to strengthen prices stalls."

So to put that better: An 8GB Meizu M6 SE (Special Edition I'm assuming) with the same thickness as the M3 will be released this August at a price of 999 Yuan, or just $130US . As some may recall, Meizu already released an updated version the M6 last year, called the M6 SP. It added a much brighter and better quality screen. We'll be sure to update you when we have more details.

Well it was hardly thick before, would be better off adding a memory expansion slot.

Making them more easily available in the UK and preferably at a more respectable price would be handy.

I truly love my M6 8gb, but if all they're going to do is 'pull a Creative ZVM' and make it thinner, I'll simply wait for the next generation and/or the 16gb version.

Yes, They Are...

I'm constantly amazed at just how great the M6 sounds, and I love the looks, features and form factor as well.

The value, that's just a given!

Yea I loved my time with my gfs before I gave her it for her burstday (in my defence of playing with a present before giving it - I had to put the firmware that allowed mp3 playback, damn patent and all that )
If they upped it to 16Gb i'd certainly get 1 myself.

Don't know if this is old news, but Wal-Greens is blowing out the 4gb M6 for just $99.

[Linky]

It's sold under the Dane Elec brand, which I've never heard of. Probably the importer.

A bit more on the M6 blow out. The black is pre-order; the ETA is 06/11/07. The white is in stock and ready to ship. Shipping is just $5.00 in the US!

Very tempting, but I'll probably wait for the 8GB. My only complaing about the M6 is that it doesn't have a portrait or auto rotating display.

I wish they would focus on making it capable of playing higher resolution @ a good framerate like Archos.

Converting is NOT cool!

Converting is 'COOL' when it's done as quickly and efficiently as MEIZU does it, and the benefit is huge savings in file storage space.

I don't think that people are keeping these flash-based DAP units that Happen To Play Videos in perspective.

These are great for watching a music video,or Old Christine episode while waiting for a dental appointment, but are not really intended to compete with the likes of the big boy PMP units, and nor should they.

I (personally) don't see wasting too much space of full-length movies on something this small.

BTW,

I'm just curious as to how many out there would seriously want a thinner player at the cost of reduced battery life?

"To make it thinner the current 700mAh battery will be swapped for a smaller 500mAh"

I, for one, would NOT!

Battery life is a deal breaker imo, and reducing it just aint good lol

its not exactly thick now is it!!!
