Meizu Revises the M3
comment: 23 | Tuesday, May 29 (2007) 01:57AM | Posted by Michael
Meizu sure are keeping themselves busy. Not only are they making brand new products like the the M8, they're also updating their older ones. Just recently we reported on a M6 (called the M6se) that's rumored to be thinner than the original. Apparently they also have plans for a new M3 (Music Card), called the M3se.

From what we know, the major changes will be in the players design. They'll be replacing the scratch-prone glossy surface with a brushed metal one, ala the 2nd Gen iPod Nano. Additionally, they've reworked the controls. Rather than having a separate button for skipping tracks (something I wasn't too fond of), they've now built it onto the edges of the touchstrip.

This wider touchstrip with rocker buttons is very reminiscent of the one found on the Creative Zen Vision:M. Finally, the player will supposedly be a little shorter, at a height of 76mm, compared to 81mm on the original. That's about all we know for now, but we'll make sure to update you as soon as we find out more.

Yeah me too. I was nearly sold on the M3, but I'll definitely pick this one up instead as I think this control scheme is better.

Of course the Price Will be Right... It's A Meizu

I love my M3s, but the back/fwd button is a bit strange.

I'll definitely pick this new one up ASAP!

Hmmm?

I wonder if CREATIVE is going to appreciate MEIZU 'borrowing' the ZVM's control pad?

Wait... We're Talking About MEIZU here... 'Borrowing' is the name of the game...

The rocker-pad will be a better option, as it allows the finger to remain on one control for all functions.....

DaHarder, I was going to mention this in the newspost but then changed my mind. Creative actually issued a patent on their touchstrip design. It's filed under "Scrolling interface for media player" if you want to take a look. The paten served double purposes for Creative's ZVM, and their rocker touchpad.

this looks like the player that creative shoud have always made - instead of the zen v - i never got used to the small joystick.

I, for one, am quite happy with my M3 8gb, and as soon as 16gb becomes avalible, I'm sure that MEIZU will act accordingly...

Rock,

8gb is the current max for interal capacity on any flash player, so why is this not enough for the M3?

Or is NO flash player spacious enough for your needs?

I totally agree with you babu. This is exactly what I and others were looking for after the ZVM's release.

the v looks better. this player have wasted space to left and right of the touch strip...

is that a strip a la ZVM, right ?

Question:

Exactly what facet of industrial design dictates that every square centimeter of a DAP's surface be cluttered with something... anything?

The M3, especially this updated one, is one of the handsomest players ever penned in my opinion.

It's elegant, svelte, UNCLUTTERED and highly functional.

I, for one, LOVE IT!

kls16,

I'd pretty much bet on both White and Black models, since this is MEIZU we're talking about here...

Well in China,Meizu is well-known as one of the worst "borrowing" manufacturer, first COWON,then Apple, and now Creative huh~?

Trivia: "Borrowing" product's UI、control pad、website and TV Ads is not enough. The appearance of Meizu's new HQ building is also a totally copy of one China college's.
