Venzero Announces the Slickr

Not too long after their announcement of the mini, Venzero is now rolling out their new flash player, the Slickr. That's quite a few players for a company we still don't know much about. The Slickr, not to be confused with Flickr, or Slacker for that matter, appears to be a "competitor" to players like the iriver clix and the Cowon D2. Aside from the larger screen, the feature set is nearly the same as the aforementioned mini.

  • Capacity: 2GB w/ miniSD expansion slot
  • 2.83" Display w/ 1.6 million colors
  • MP3, WMA, and AVI playback
  • FM Tuner and Voice Recorder
  • Built-in Speaker
  • Other: Classic game pre-installed (Tetris), Text support, and MusicMarker recognition software
  • Dimensions: 85.5 x 55 x 9.8mm
  • UMS device

From what I can see, there aren't any visible controls on the player. Could it have a D-Click system like the Clix? Or a touchscreen interface like the D2? I imagine they'd mention something like that, so I'm just going to assume the controls are on the edge of the player. The Slickr will go on sale Mid June at a price of 119 Euros, which typically translates directly into US dollars.

I'm with Mr. Pink, I can't recall ever actually reading a hands-on review of any of these Venzero DAP's...

2GB is not much capacity for the market these days, even with the miniSD slot. 4GB is starting to get frowned upon....

2GB? The device looks pretty nice but that is just way too low...

For the life of me, I can't see any reason why a DAP/PMP this large would even be offered in 2gb...

Heck! The stating capacity for these types of players should be no less than 4gb IMO.

2gb ain't so bad, as long as it's got the capability of expansion, which it does... miniSD. Although, miniSD is more expensive than SD... ug

that's a good question, enigman. I haven't heard of anybody here or at the other sites I frequent ever owning a venzero. It's a mysterious thing, that's for sure.....

its probably just one of those companies

the ones that everyone else outdoes, so no one who knows what they are buying bothers with it

or something like that
