M-I-C-K-E-Y - M-Okay, Enough of that. This is a DAP site, not a Disney forum! That's easy enough for most of our regular visitors, but if someone stumbled upon our site and saw iriver's newest player, they'd really have to wonder. The Mplayer made its debut at CES this past January and made us all wonder what iriver was smoking. I poked fun at the uncanny likeness to Disney's top paid character (if characters actually got paid that is), but I never realized it'd actually carry Disney's branding.

It seems like every major company is releasing a screenless player these days; one trend I hoped to never see. For what it is, The Mplayer doesn't look all that bad. Rather than sticking to a Shuffle-inspired control scheme, found on previous Disney players, the M-player actually utilizes its' odd shape. One ear is used for changing volume, while the other is for advancing tracks. The player should be arriving this month over in Asia. No word on whether it'll show up in the rest of the world, but I'll keep my Mickey ears open for any new developments.
