Sony is testing the
PMP waters with the release of the PMX-M70 and the U50. Unfortunately, unless you're in China you won't be able to get your hands on one of these. That's where this whole internet thing plays a role. Someone over there took some nice pictures of the U50 for us curious onlookers:
The player is much smaller than I first imagined. The curved speaker adds a different, yet still appealing look from most other players out there. The cross-media bar interface (as seen on the PSP/PS3) is also a welcomed addition. Although these players don't really bring anything new and innovative to the PMP market, I'd still like to see them sold outside of China. I'm tired of seeing PMP's from the same companies year after year. Sony has something good here and should take advantage of it.

heh, GUI kinda sorta like the DAB-enabled D2 GUI, and yet not really like it, at all.....
I can't help but be reminded of that Toshiba Gigabeat PMP, with that bulbous, rounded end.......the PMX U50 has some junk in it's trunk....
