CES 2008: The iriver P10 - Awesomo Cool!
comment: 15 | Sunday, January 06 (2008) 08:34AM | Posted by Dominic
Finally we can see iriver's fabled P10, It'll have 33GB's inside and is the first PMP to use a 1.3" HDD. As you can see from the below image, the P10 has differed ever so slightly from its concept design, looking a bit thicker overall, in contrast to the sleek elegance of the original design.

However the design remains sexy, and (from the limited details) what's under that design seems equally as sexy... The P10 uses a 4" touchscreen (800x480px) with 600Mhz processor, it packs a built in speaker naturally, has TV out built in and a built in microphone too. There's also a DMB tuner for good measure but that'll be of no use to anyone outside of Asia... More details to arise as CES 2008 continues.

well i'll be damned it is a 1.3 33gb hd in there. I wonder if this is running CE.5.0 or some sort like the w10, and or if this is the same hd as the clixs3

The return of the 33GB spec, lol. I'm surprised to see it come true, though we were expecting it on the Clix 3. The P10 looks a bit too chubby, but still looks good.

P10 looked same size in that report in September, looks intriguing will come down to the price as to how much so.

From a design standpoint, what's there to like about another white plastic box?

That's so Apple circa 2002 i.e. Played Out!

The feature set sounds quite tasty though...

I don't think I can just dismiss the design simply because it's shown in white, but that's just me. For all we know, there could be a black model in the future as well.

It doesn't look like an apple product because thankfully the plastic isn't glossed over to hell. This looks good, hopefully the clix3 will be using flash storage now since this is using the 1.3" HDD.

If it really supports all Codecs, I would be hard pressed not to buy it. No transcoding ever? Wow, how could you not have one of these around?

Well I am assuming this is either running a linux or WinCE based OS. I am going to say its more likely WinCE as the W7/W10 uses that os. I only mention this because those OS theoretically can support all Codecs.
