Cnet reviews the MobiBlu T10 (aka the Teclast T39)

A few years ago, Mobiblu was a DAP company to watch. They created the Cube series, which instantly became a hit. They then followed it up with the B153, a fairly unattractive player with a mind boggling 153 hours of battery life. And then, they sort of vanished into thin air. They came back last year with the D5, which was really just a rebrand of the Teclast T29. Now they've rebranded the T39 as the Mobiblu T10. Cnet reviewed it and surprise surprise, it's crap:

The Good: The MobiBlu T10 MP3 player offers music and video playback, along with an FM radio, photo viewer, notepad, text reader, voice recorder, video games, miniSD memory expansion, and a built-in speaker.

The Bad: The MobiBlu T10 is plagued with problems, such as videos that play out of sync with audio; poor voice-recording quality; an abysmal user interface; and games that are awkward to play.

The Bottom line
: The MobiBlu T10 is the worst touch-screen MP3 player we've seen.

Score: 3.3/10 (ouch!)

It's sad to see so many companies fall by wayside, but that's how it goes in this highly competitive industry. More than anything, I would have liked to see a follow-up to the B153. If they could have put that battery in a better looking player, I would've bought it in a heartbeat.

It's wierd how in the "features" and "design" department did so poorly in... it's above average in both, isn't it? Reasons I don't trust CNet....

If they could have put that battery in a more 80's art-deco, neon-bright translucent packaging, I would've bought it in a heartbeat.

Is this what you meant to say??

The MobiBLu T10 is a cheaper version of the T39 in that it uses a different SOC: T10 - Rockchip from China; T39 - Telechips from Korea. I'm not even sure the MobiBlu uses the Wolfson chip for audio as found in the "dual core" T39. Note the decreased performance/lower specs of the MobiBlu versus the Teclast. Of course, that also makes the T10 incompatible with existing firmware upgrades for the Telechips model, which however incremental in scope and however glacial in their release time, have made the T39 a bit better player.

I wouldn't trust CNET to rate my toaster oven, but with a Rockchip under the hood, I can understand their frustration.

A bit ironic: they suggest the Cowon D2 as an alternative. Like the original T39, the D2 uses a Telechips + Wolfson solution, albeit different chips.

It's really a shame about the "full" T39 (not MobiBlu variant); really high quality components and internal layout, but little to no firmware support and, at the very beginning, first-run quality issues.

Note: it's also worth mentioning that, technically, the MobiBlu is not a "rebranded Teclast" because Teclast gets the T39 (as well as the T29 and the C series) from the same OEM as MobiBlu does. They're both "rebrands".
