IFA doesn't start for another few days, but we already know what most of the major DAP companies will be showing off. Joining in with their
Korean comrades, Samsung will be announcing the YP-Q1. It's a mid-range player with a 2.4" screen and a similar GUI to the P2. Unlike the P2 however, the Q1 will be using physical controls. They're diamond shaped and appear to be touch-sensitive.
The Q1 will come in 4, 8, and 16GB capacities and has great codec support including MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC, MPEG-4, and WMV. There's also an FM tuner with RDS support and Voice recorder built-in. Battery life is rated at 30 hours for audio and 4 hours for video. That's about all we know for now. The Q1 looks like a decent player, but it doesn't do a whole lot to separate itself from the other players in its range. We don't have the full spec list yet so we'll reserve judgment till we get it.
