iUbi PMP2020: internet PVR outsmarting the Archos AV500 already?

Seems that we stepped over THIS player too early. The iUbi PMP2020 could prove a quite interesting hybrid-technology pioneer. Much as the AV500 from Archos will be.
The iUbi will be able to record audio & video, as well play them on its' 3.5" TFT or through video-out. More interesting is the whole iUbi-concept. You see, that actually stands for "Internet (network)" + "Ubiquitous" (or "omnipresent", which would make a cool nickname). So yeah, the iUbi will support wireless sufring on the Net through an add-on Wi-Fi card.

But wait: that's not it. This thing also comes with a touch screen for PDA-like purposes. Exactly what the AV500 will offer when it comes available. Granted, that 20GB HDD isn't impressive, as is the number of supported audio formats. Then again, this unit will support numerous video files and well... that whole Internet thing + PDA stuff is just pretty unique. The actual player measures 128 x 26,7 x 29mm, a bit thick, and weighs some 300 grams. It'll play for 3~5 hours continously and comes with a cradle for recharging and whatnot. No idea about price or availability yet. Oh, did I mention it supports Internet Radio? Well, now I did.

ok so rumors has it some Korean wants to make a portable video player with the wireless internet and everything. Trying to be a little bit like the all world dominating Archos!!?! Let them prove that they can make any working Mpeg-4 player with harddisk first. For example the iRiver will supposedly not playback larger than 352x288 resolution DivX 3.11 and VGA resolution 640x480 for Mpeg-4 Simple Profile. Why did iRiver advertise about Mpeg-4 Advanced Simple Profile if they then cannot support it! (source [Linky])

I wouldn't buy anything other than archos for pmp's any time soon. Archos is onto their 5th gen player, whereas all of these other players are 1st gen and still very prone to glitches and such.

JMB10-20 ; AV120-AV300 ;AV400 (both the AV120 and the AV300 have identicly the same processor !!)
so the AV500 will be their 4the generation player ...
and speaking off WORKING mpeg-4 player ... IF it works yes ... I've got a JMB20 myself, had a problem with battery life; called Archos WHILE I STILL HAD WARRANTY !!! THEY DIDN'T want to fix it !!
So I had to fix it myself ! (I succeeded by using a guide on [Linky] but now I'm having problems with recharging it ... If you check out all the forums on the internet about archos you 'll notice the same thing : LOUSY QUALITY BUILD !!!
Some people say that the new products (AV400 and GMINI400) are better quality build ... I've been checking some information about the GMINI400 and read a lot of times about DUST UNTERNEATH the screen !! some people did the same like I did : thought that archos would fix it ... what did you think that archos did RIGHT --> they had to pay 37$ just to get the dust out of it IN WARRANTY PERIOD !!! IF that's what you call working MPEG IV player and decent company ... THEY STINK !!!
And btw if you 've studied this player decently you would 've noticed that it plays A LOT MORE videotypes than the archos
EVEN more than the AV500 which will only play MPEG 4 ASP Divx and WMV-protected.
BUT I must grant it ... the AV500 looks nicer and has better battery life
But think about it like this, competition is ALWAYS good even if it sucks cause it lowers prizes
And this note for you Charbax-Archos lover : that movie that you made was totally stupid in my opinion
