Seems that we stepped over
THIS player too early. The iUbi PMP2020 could prove a quite interesting hybrid-technology pioneer. Much as the AV500 from Archos will be.
The iUbi will be able to record audio & video, as well play them on its' 3.5" TFT or through video-out. More interesting is the whole iUbi-concept. You see, that actually stands for "Internet (network)" + "Ubiquitous" (or "omnipresent", which would make a cool nickname). So yeah, the iUbi will support wireless sufring on the Net through an add-on Wi-Fi card.
But wait: that's not it. This thing also comes with a touch screen for PDA-like purposes. Exactly what the AV500 will offer when it comes available. Granted, that 20GB HDD isn't impressive, as is the number of supported audio formats. Then again, this unit will support numerous video files and well... that whole Internet thing + PDA stuff is just pretty unique. The actual player measures 128 x 26,7 x 29mm, a bit thick, and weighs some 300 grams. It'll play for 3~5 hours continously and comes with a cradle for recharging and whatnot. No idea about price or availability yet. Oh, did I mention it supports Internet Radio? Well, now I did.
