COWON S9 1.10Beta Firmware realeased!
comment: 11 | Friday, March 06 (2009) 08:07PM | Posted by Design Fabulous

Cowon has released a firmware upgrade for the Cowon S9. The firmware adds:

- a Widgets Feature
- WMV7, WMV8, ASF file support
- video playback speed and full screen mode for TV-OUT
- support for UTF-8 subtitles and color tags
- full screen mode in photo viewer and wallpaper support
- Passkey and PIN support for Bluetooth
- full QWERTY keyboard for the dicitonary (with word suggestion)

The first thing that I noticed was that the widgets are not integrated into the mainmenu and are in a separate desktop. This is quite inconvenient, and I'm hoping the future firmware will fix this. The addition of custom wallpaper and full QWERTY are great though.

I am retreating to my Fortress Of Samsungitude to regroup and ponder upon these most unfortunate events.

Wow widget support? I wonder if Cowon will allow users to make their own? If so, there'll be a huge community dedicated to that, just like there is with UCI's

Pondlife, you're so right. Samsung adds video support to match the S9, so Cowon adds widgets to match the P3. lol

Seriously, Who Cares!

Where's the Dad-Blamed 32gb Version Already?

^ I'm pretty sure anyone with an S9 will care. It's not like Cowon is doing any wrong doing, it's always good for a company to support their customers, even if it's after their purchase.

^ Well, Isn't that nice... If they continue this lackadaisical attitude towards releasing the 32gb S9, they'll end up not having as many customers for which to provide support - Starting With Me!

Oh please, there's no chance you won't buy one lol

Could be there isn't as much demand as we'd like to think for a 32gb one. Maybe the 8gb players are outselling the 16gb ones even

Personally I've got to the stage where I'm wondering if 32gb is big enough anymore.

Just another reason to get one of these.
