iriver releases yet another DAP - E150

I just got information that iriver has released a successor of the E100 - the E150 in Korea. The E100 and E100S2 were both unbelievably popular in Korea. The key reasons are the low price tag and attractive design. The E150 follows this trend with a $78USD price for the 4GB and $100USD for 8GB. The design is very "iriver" in language with soft lines and a "dish" like curved edge to the front surface. The buttons are now integrated into the body and the speaker grills have been made more attractive too.

iriver has also upgraded the UI with a more playful and colorful design. Other than these cosmetic changes, the iriver E150 is nearly identical to the E100. I feel that the E150 is the prefect upgrade for the recession though. It doesn't cost a lot to make small upgrades like this and I'm guessing that it's what the consumers want at a times like these. I feel that iriver will have no problem selling over a million units like they did with the E100.

Wonder if the microSD integrates this time.

Really hasn't changed much from the first season's e100, not even a bump to capacity.

I do like the change in speaker design. It looks a lot nicer than those circular speakers on the E100.

They could have certainly done more here. Here are some of my complaints about the E100 that don't seem to be resolved here:

1.) no microSD integration
2.) Sound quality was so-so
3.) Battery life was pretty low by today's standard
4.) Navigation during audio playback was confusing (up and down buttons are used to skip back and forth, rather than the right and left buttons)

As Michael has said, the microSD integration REALLY needs to be resolved. Battery life was sub-par in the E100 but it wasnt terrible either. Navigation would have been the least of its worries, however sound quality is important as well. If it sounds anything like the Sony HD5 I'd be quite happy.

I could live with the microSD if its not integrated, buying a 16gb card would resolve my issues and use the internal memory for everything else.

Though the player itself really needs 16gb internal capacity. No reason not to, really.

Love the UI though, very neat.

Quick question: did the E100 handle ID3 tag based navigation when using the MicroSD slot or was it filetree only?

^ All recent iriver devices (including E100) are based on iD3 tag based navigation so I'm guessing that the MicroSD was managed in the same way.

Excellent reporting and presentation of this news and other. No wonder the other sites are taking news from DAP.

I have the e100 and love it. I can't wait to get one of these. Plus the Mintpad is looking sweet.
